Make Sure You Know Your Measles Status
Iowa is currently experiencing a measles outbreak, with state health officials reporting multiple confirmed cases and evidence of person-to-person spread. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases and can spread quickly among individuals who are not protected through vaccination.
Now is an important time to make sure you and your family know your vaccination status. The MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine is the best protection against measles and helps protect not only you, but also infants, older adults, and others who may be more vulnerable to severe illness.
Buena Vista County Public Health is offering FREE measles (MMR) vaccinations for individuals of all ages. Whether you have private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or no insurance at all, cost will not be a barrier to receiving this important vaccine.
